Academic Search Premier (EBSCOhost) Tutorial

Keyword Searching | Refining a Search | Subject Searching | Printing | Emailing

KEYWORD Searching:
  1. Click on the Continue button.
  2. Type video games and violence in the box.
  3. Click on the Search button.
  4. The first 10 citations will display automatically.
  5. To see the citation/abstract or the whole article (if available) click on the title of the article.                      (or click on Full-Textor PDF)
REFINING a Search:
  1. Click on the Result List or the Back button on your browser to return to your list of citations.
  2. Click on the Refine Search tab. Search Options
  3. Click in the box next to Full Text.
  4. Click in the box next to Scholarly (Peer Reviewed) Journals .
  5. Click on the Search button.
  6. All your results should now be full text academic journal articles (not magazines or popular articles).
  7. TIP: There are several ways to refine your search - you do not have to use them all.
  8. You may also click on the Advanced Search tab Advanced Search if you would like to limit your search by date or publication type.

SUBJECT Searching:

  1. Click on the Subject Terms button at the top of the screen.
  2. Type cloning in the box at the top and click on the Browse button.
  3. Click on cloning.
  4. You will see the subject heading cloning, as well as broader terms and narrower terms.
  5. Mark the box(es) next to the subject term(s) you wish to use.
  6. Then click on the Search button at the top.
PRINTING:
  1. Click on the title of the full text article you want.
  2. Click on PrintPrint located both at the top and the bottom of the article.
  3. Click on the Print and then OK.
  4. TIP: It is safer to print/email your articles one at a time - less chance for error.
EMAILING:
  1. Click on the title of the full text article you want.
  2. Click on E-mailE-mail located both at the top and the bottom of the article.
  3. Type in your email address and Send.
To EXIT:
  1. Click on the X in the upper right corner of the screen.
